Acupuncture
Using acupuncture we support your body to restore balance & heal.
Our professionally registered Acupuncturists determine each individual patient’s needs and then create a customised plan, integrating Chinese massage, cupping, moxibustion, and herbal formulas when needed.
Getting to the root of your symptoms
The acupuncture points acts as a gate which sends energy electromagnetically via the fascia deep into our bodies. Below are some of the ways acupuncture works:
IMPROVES CIRCULATION
Stimulates sympathetic responses causing blood vessel dilatation and increased blood flow.
REDUCES INFLAMMATION
Reduces inflammation via several physiological pathways.
RELEASES BLOCKAGES
Helps release areas of blocked Qi – promoting health & stimulating organ function.
PROMOTES HEALING
Stimulating an acupuncture point is an energetic prompt to the body's innate healing intelligence.
DECREASES PAIN
Interrupts pain signalling by acting as a natural analgesic.
BALANCES BODY CHEMISTRY
Stimulates the central nervous system, influencing the body’s biochemical responses.

Chinese Medicine Is an Energy Medicine
The term energy medicine refers to the wide range of healing modalities aimed at healing imbalances in the energy fields in and around the human body. It can be used to diagnose and treat illness by manipulating energy—the vital life force referred to as “qi” in traditional Chinese medicine—that pulses through the cells of our bodies. Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of energy healing, and at Great Southern Holistic Health we practice it in an integrative way.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a complete medical protocol focussed on correcting imbalances within the emotional body, the physical body, and the mind. Regular treatments can help prevent and treat a multitude of diseases and conditions. The practitioner inserts thin, single-use needles into the skin along specific pathways and points to manipulate the flow of Qi, blood and nerve impulses.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy, which involves burning moxa, a cone or stick made of dried & ground mugwort leaves, on or near your body's meridians and acupuncture points. It can be used to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body.
Gua Sha
The name Gua Sha comes from the Chinese word for scraping. It is the practice of using a tool to apply pressure and scrape the skin—stimulating the lymphatic system, helping to increase circulation, move excess fluids, and flush out toxins from the tissues.
Cupping
Cupping works by applying small cups to the skin to create a vacuum or suction effect on a specifically targeted area. The vacuum will generally be created by heating the air in the cup. It can be used to remove stagnation and stimulate the flow of Qi.
Chinese Massage
Like acupuncture, massage is used to harmonise yin and yang in the body by manipulating Qi in the acupuncture channels. This massage can help by stimulating the flow of Qi — restoring balance and energy circulation.
